Hello from America, Airhorn is back!
My friends! Hello!
How have you been, it’s been too long! When last we talked I was telling you Airhorn was gonna be this Friday, but that Friday was May 2nd like 3 months ago! But! I have big news: AIRHORN IS COMING BACK IN A COUPLE FRIDAYS!
August 8th, Airhorn is back, at Newtown Community Centre!
🎉 Buy Tickets now! 🎉
This is a special one for all you calendar heads, who know that Airhorn is always on the first friday and are now writing in, saying “The 8th is technically the 2nd Friday.”
That’s right! This is an extremely rare Airhorn! It should be highly sought after among the experience collector market because of this rarity! There’s honestly not much to it beyond that we found it confusing for the first day of the month to also be the first friday of the month and were worried people would miss it if it happened on August 1st.
I am throwing way too many dates and numbers out there in this email already. I’m making it confusing. Please let me start again:
Airhorn is Friday, August 8th, at the Newtown Community Centre!
(and you can Buy Tickets now!)
You want a poster? CHECK OUT THIS POSTER!

Look at that, all the Airhorn crew you know and love plus some frickin’ dinosaurs? We cannot promise the latter, but we can promise the former, we got:
LILY CATASTROPHE
ANNA MACLEAN
MOGZ
JAK DARLING
LESA MACLEOD-WHITING
BOOTH THE CLOWN
ALAYNE DICK
And me, the humble zach mandeville!
(check out how my name is all lowercase, the humblest of cases!)
This will be just a good old fashioned explosion of laughter and joy for all of you, sponsored by our friends at Wattie’s. Also, if you buy tickets before this Monday you can still get in on our early bird special. 1 ticket for 18 dollars, or two tickets for $30. Broken down, that’s $15 dollars a ticket. That’s 1 ticket for the price of a cup of coffee (specifically a large oat milk flat white with a bit of maple syrup in it sold on a holiday). But still, ya can’t beat these prices. Like Wattie’s, Airhorn is all about giving great quality at good prices.

You may be wondering what we’ve been up to since the last Airhorn. I cannot speak for everyone, just DJ BBGUN and myself. The two of us have been visiting family in America. Tonight, we are deep in the Ozark mountains, having just had dinner at Lambert’s, in Springfield, Missouri (the “Queen city of the Ozarks”) where you got fresh baked rolls thrown at you as you ate. It’s true! You could order a chicken fried steak with two sides and “Norm’s pass arounds” and during the meal a teenager-clad in bowtie, suspenders, and black gloves- comes out with a tray filled with bread and yells “HOT ROLLS WHO WANTS ONE!” Hands would shoot up from all the booths across the restaurant, waving in excitement, and then the teen would just start chucking hot rolls, in big arcs across the dining area, and we’d catch them with our hot, waving, hungry hands. It’s the defining gimmick of this restaurant, so much that if you don’t believe me you can go to their website: https://throwedrolls.com. I am not too proud to admit that I was so excited to get a roll thrown at me, so much that I got slightly anxious when we were halfway through the meal and the tray hadn’t been brought out yet and I was worried we were too far back in a forgotten corner. But then the teen came out and I got to hold up my hand, and see him throw it so hard and high that it almost hit the banner advertising cinnamon buns, and when I caught it the roll was so hot and fresh it exploded in my hands like buttery play-dough… and then I held up my hands for another, as I was catching a roll for each member of my family, handing mutilated exploded roll to each of them like the hero I was.
In a few extremely specific, isolated areas (family love, chicken fried steak, throwed rolls) America is pretty great, and it gave me some ideas on what Airhorn could do to be better.
But, to be honest, I’m excited to come home, to New Zealand, and the greatest neighborhood in New Zealand (Newtown), and the greatest intersection (Colombo and Rintoul) with the greatest community centre (Te Whare Hapori o Ngā Puna Waiora) and the greatest audience (you) and the greatest show (AIRHORN!)
It’ll be a blast to see y’all’s good faces again! If you want to laugh, if you want to cheer, if you want to make a simple roll-catching man happy, then come out August 8th, to Airhorn!

“AIRHORN RECIPE CORNER”
As a fun thank you to you, dear reader, for making it this far, we decided to start offering fun recipes you can make at home for your family.
This month:
Café-style baked eggs and beans
Ingredients:
2 Tbsp olive oil
1 red onion, sliced
1 red capsicum, de-seeded and sliced
1 yellow capsicum, de-seeded and sliced
½ tsp Wattie's smoked paprika
1 cup Wattie's Crushed and Sieved Tomatoes
420g can Wattie's Salsa Chilli Beans Medium
4 eggs
Handful of fresh parsley leaves, chopped
50g feta, crumbled (optional)
Note: if you can’t find the onion or capsicum, you can replace with 1 can of Wattie’s Mexicali Flavours Salsa
StepsHeat oil in a lidded frying pan over low heat.
Add the onion and capsicums and sauté until the vegetables are soft.
Add the Wattie’s Paprika and cook for a further 1 minute.
Add the Wattie's Crushed and Sieved Tomatoes
Add Wattie’s Salsa Chilli Beans.
Stir while bringing the sauce to the boil.
Reduce heat and simmer for about 10 minutes, to allow the sauce to reduce by about a third.
Break the eggs over the beans and sauce. Cover.
Reduce the heat to low and cook for a further 10–15 minutes or until the whites are firm. The yolks should still be runny.
Scatter over the chopped parsley and feta if wished, before serving with crusty bread or toast on the side. For a full breakfast, serve with a bowl of Wattie’s canned peaches.
SEE YOU AUGUST 8TH!
