AIRHORN On 2nd February! Plus showbiz news and a brainteaser!
Hello friends, fans, and taste MAKERS! This is an email from the revved up crew of AIRHORN, Newtown's hottest monthly comedy show.
You are receiving it because you either signed up for the newsletter (via airhorn.nz) or you attended a previous show and we're taking a brave leap in thinking you'd like to see the show again! Hopefully it is a leap that lands, as Nick Cave says, into your arms.
So! If you are keen for another AIRHORN then YOU ARE IN LUCK! Next Friday, 2nd February, we are coming back to the Newtown Community center for laughs, dance, hijinks, and just some good warm feelings! We have your regular crew of miscreants -- Anna Maclean, Booth the Clown, Hoani Hotene, Lesa Macleod-Whiting, and yrs truly Zach Mandeville -- plus special guests Samantha Hannah and Leki Lyons. I know I am biased, but this show is STACKED. We have, objectively and verifiably (more on that later), the best comedians in town all on one stage, on one night, for a tight hour of comedic FIREWORKS.
If yr keen to come, you can buy tickets here: https://kiwiticket.co.nz/events/airhorn-02-02-2024

SHOWBIZ NEWS!
Last week was the Wellington Comedy Awards (the Wellies) and Airhorn was well-represented! Lesa and Booth both won the Comedian of the Year award and Hoani won best traveling act. Airhorn, the show itself, was nominated for most innovative. Collectively, the people of Airhorn held 16 nominations across the awards. It's very cool!
And now, to make it so this section doesn't seem like an excuse to just gush about the cool people of Airhorn, I share these other bits of showbiz news:
- Iron Claw opens up this week at Lighthouse Cinema
- Rumours abound on the set of Jimmy Kimmel tonight
- 2024 is shaping up to be a big year for entertainment fans
That concludes showbiz news! Next, a...
BRAINTEASER!
To finish off this email, here is a fun puzzle that, if you can come up with the answer, will get you a prize at next week's Airhorn!
The riddle:
A father is driving in the car with his son, who is telling him funny stories about his day. The father finds the son's stories so funny that he says, "You should try comedy! There is a comedy competition tonight that you should enter." The son agrees. But then the dad pulls the car over and dies.
The son enters the comedy competition in his father's memory. But one of the judges stops him before he can go on stage and says, "I cannot judge your comedy set, for you are my son." How is this possible?!
There are multiple correct answers for this. If you can think of one, tell ZACH! at next week's Airhorn and you will receive one free gourmet drink! The solution will be given in the next newsletter.
Good luck and see you next Friday!
