Once in a Moody Moony Tuesday
Hi Everyone,
I hope you're having a great week! So, this newsletter thing still feels odd to me, to be honest. I'd love your feedback on frequency. Would you prefer weekly, bimonthly, monthly? What kind of info would you like to have here? Please drop me a line and let me know: aimee@gramblin.com
Last Thursday, I got a call from our 11-year-old's school that she'd had close contact with someone who has Covid. While we knew this was inevitable, it just hit me like a ton of bricks--not just Covid, but everything from the last year and a half, because in truth, I had a breakdown and got help and as I began to heal, Covid hit. So, I haven't reemerged into a "normal" world, but a pandemic one. It led to this article, which is definitely a vent, but an important one, I think. It's published in An Injustice.

I've been thoroughly enjoying peer writer and satirist Hogan Torah's recent articles. I'm planning to write a piece inspired by his course. The thing about Hogan is that he's a lot of shit-talk, but he actually knows quite a bit about how things work on various writing platforms. He's a satirist--buried in his satire are core truths. Hogan doesn't shy away from sex, drugs, and rock n roll, but don't ask him to read your poems. I may feature writers I like going forward. What do you think?
Hogan is fun to follow over on Twitter, too.

I guess I've been a little, umm, moody, over the last week or so. Here's a quick read in The Riff about a mixed CD I made and recently found. It's from the 2000s and I created a Spotify list of the songs to share with you. I've been surprised that several readers have downloaded the playlist and listened already. Go figure!

Over the years, I've watched several TV shows in which death is a major theme. I decided to gather them into an article to share with FanFare. It has been fun looking through the comments and receiving suggestions for other shows that revolve around death. It's also been great hearing from fans of the shows I wrote about.

David and I will celebrate our 19th wedding anniversary in October. It's hard to believe! There have been rocky times and wonderful times and over the years we've chosen partnership over comfort and convenience many times. When I write about our relationship, I'm honest. I want others to know that "happily ever after" and "perfect" aren't real life.

Quit looking for the perfect partner. Perfect is a lie.
It was a full moon yesterday and the new moon begins today. It can be considered a time of transition and a good time to make room for new opportunities. I'm learning to choose and hone in on where I want to put my focus. This is a lifelong endeavor for me because I'm curious by nature and so many interesting people catch my attention.
Do you have tips for trimming the "fat" from life? If so, email me and I'll include your tips in a future newsletter.
Thanks for your support!
Aimée
