Ninth Circuit lifts Amazon's ban on Perplexity shopping agent

A Ninth Circuit panel reversed the preliminary injunction that had barred Perplexity's Comet browser from completing purchases on Amazon, finding Amazon unlikely to prove a Computer Fraud and Abuse Act violation. Judge Milan Smith wrote that it is users, not Perplexity, who access Amazon's systems when they direct the agent, and that an injunction would impair consumer choice and limit a nascent technology. Amazon sued in late 2025 and won the injunction in March 2026.

Why it matters
This is the first appellate ruling on whether the CFAA lets platforms block third-party AI agents acting on a user's behalf, and it sets binding precedent across the circuit where most large tech companies are based. It removes the strongest legal lever incumbents had against agentic commerce.

ERCOT's interconnection queue grew from 233 gigawatts in January to 474 gigawatts by mid-year, with roughly 90% of that demand from data centers.

Anaconda acquires Enkrypt AI to secure enterprise agent stacks
Anaconda bought AI security startup Enkrypt AI for an undisclosed sum, adding pre-deployment red-teaming, runtime guardrails, and NIST AI RMF and HIPAA compliance mapping to its platform. Enkrypt scanned 268,000 tools across 25,000 MCP servers in the prior two months and found more than 143,000 vulnerabilities affecting 73% of them.
