Anthropic closes $30B round, eclipses OpenAI as most valuable AI startup

CNBC

Anthropic is closing a roughly $30 billion financing at a pre-money valuation above $900 billion, co-led by Sequoia, Dragoneer, Altimeter and Greenoaks. The deal vaults Claude's maker past OpenAI to become the world's most valuable private AI company, with annualized revenue reported above $30 billion.

Why it matters

It's the second $30B round Anthropic has closed in 14 weeks and resets the ceiling for AI valuations, giving the company enormous firepower to fund compute commitments with Google and Amazon and to compete on model and enterprise distribution.
