🚨 US Forces Anthropic to Shut Down Its Strongest Models

  • The US government issued a national security export control directive forcing Anthropic to immediately disable access to its newest frontier models, Fable 5 and Mythos 5, for every customer worldwide.

  • The order bars any foreign national — including Anthropic’s own employees inside or outside the US — from using the models, and the company says it had no practical way to comply without a full shutdown.

  • Anthropic believes the move stems from concerns over a narrow jailbreak method and warned that similar interventions could halt new frontier model deployments across the entire industry.

⚖️ OpenAI’s IPO Plans in Danger After State Subpoena

  • A coalition of state attorneys general led by New York served OpenAI with a sweeping subpoena on June 12 demanding documents on its deep learning algorithms, advertising policies, data management, consumer health information, and how children and older users interact with its products.

  • The probe, which follows Florida’s lawsuit against the company and CEO Sam Altman, could result in a consent decree forcing design changes that impact OpenAI’s 900 million weekly users and complicate its planned September IPO.

🚀 SpaceX Soars 28% After Record IPO

  • SpaceX completed the largest IPO in history, raising $75 billion at a $135 per share pricing, then surged as high as $172 on its Nasdaq debut to push the company’s valuation above $2.25 trillion.

  • The offering was roughly 10 times oversubscribed with enormous retail demand, though analysts noted the first-day pop primarily rewards early investors and warned that volatility could persist.

  • The debut also made Elon Musk the world’s first trillionaire while creating thousands of new millionaires among employees.

😬 Zuckerberg Admits Mistakes in Meta’s AI Overhaul

  • Mark Zuckerberg told Meta employees in an internal memo that the company has “made mistakes” during its aggressive workforce restructuring tied to its AI push and warned that more errors are almost certain.

  • The changes — including laying off roughly 10% of global staff in May and reassigning about 7,000 employees to AI roles — are expected to affect around 20% of Meta’s nearly 78,000-person workforce, though Zuckerberg said no further company-wide layoffs are planned this year.
