❌ China forces Apple to remove Jack Dorsey's Bitchat
Apple has removed Jack Dorsey’s decentralized messaging app Bitchat from its China App Store after China’s Cyberspace Administration of China ruled that the app violates regulations governing services capable of enabling social mobilization.
Bitchat functions entirely over Bluetooth and mesh networks without requiring internet access, allowing messages to hop directly between nearby devices — a design that has made it especially popular during government-imposed connectivity blackouts in multiple countries.
The app has now exceeded three million total downloads across platforms, marking the second time Chinese authorities have targeted a decentralized messaging application backed by Dorsey, following the 2023 ban of the Nostr-based Damus app.

📱 Vibe coding boosted App Store submissions in 2025
App Store submissions surged 84 percent year-over-year in Q1 2026, with the sharp increase widely attributed to the growing adoption of vibe coding tools such as Claude Code and ChatGPT Codex.
For the full year of 2025, submissions grew 30 percent compared to 2024, approaching 600,000 total, with momentum steadily building each quarter and accelerating sharply into early 2026.
Apple states that its review team processes 90 percent of submissions within 48 hours, though developers and consumers have voiced concerns about a rising volume of lower-quality apps flooding the App Store.

🚪 Claude just shut the door on OpenClaw
Anthropic announced that, effective April 4, 2026, Claude Pro and Max subscribers will no longer be able to link their subscriptions to third-party agentic tools such as OpenClaw, citing significant strain on compute resources and engineering capacity.
Users will still be able to power third-party agents with Claude models, but they must now transition to pay-as-you-go “extra usage” billing or Anthropic’s API, which operates on a per-token pricing model rather than flat-rate access.
Peter Steinberger, creator of OpenClaw and now at OpenAI, accused Anthropic of incorporating popular open-source features into Claude Code before restricting access for competing tools, while Anthropic has offered credits and discounts to help ease the transition for affected users.

🤖 Sam Altman proposes AI tax and regulation blueprint
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman released a 13-page policy blueprint on Monday outlining new taxes, a public wealth fund, and regulatory measures to help society prepare for AI’s expected impact on jobs and the economy.
The document proposes taxes on automated labor to safeguard funding for essential programs such as Social Security and SNAP, while recommending that every citizen receive a direct stake in the economic gains generated by AI.
Altman also urged employers and unions to adopt four-day workweeks with no reduction in pay, expand training programs for human-centered roles, and establish clear guardrails on how governments can deploy AI systems.
