OpenAI plans to merge its three Mac applications — ChatGPT, Codex, and Atlas — into a single unified “superapp,” according to a Wall Street Journal report confirmed by an OpenAI spokesperson.
In an internal memo, Chief of Applications Fidji Simo told her team that the company had been “spreading our efforts across too many apps and stacks,” which slowed development and compromised overall quality.
The company intends to first introduce agentic features to Codex for productivity tasks beyond coding, then integrate ChatGPT and the Atlas browser into the new superapp, while leaving the mobile app unchanged.

Amazon is developing a new smartphone under the codename “Transformer,” marking its first attempt at a mobile device in more than 11 years since the unsuccessful Fire Phone, according to a Reuters report citing people familiar with the project.

Federal prosecutors in New York have charged Super Micro Computer co-founder Yih-Shyan “Wally” Liaw and two associates with illegally diverting approximately $2.5 billion worth of AI servers to China.
A Southeast Asian intermediary company allegedly created false documentation and used “dummy” servers in storage facilities to deceive the manufacturer’s compliance team, while the genuine servers were shipped to China.
