Friends, comrades.
Adventures is on hiatus right now but letās get right to it: there are organizations that need our help. There are people out there doing hard work and fighting like hell. And hereās one small way you can help them:
- Support a bail fund
- Or Reclaim the Block
- And donate to the ACLU
There are countless other ways to donate, to read, to care for this issue and in ways I am surely ignorant of. But many years ago a friend told meāI forget who it was nowāof their favorite Roman adage (yes, all my friends have favorite Roman adages):
āDo Justice,ā they said. āAnd let the skies fall.ā
Sure, justice can be bigārevolutionary even, with the toppling of governments and the overthrowing of evil empiresābut it cannot always be quite so grand. Sometimes we must permit ourselves small and incremental justice; reading a book you might otherwise skip right over, helping someone you might otherwise not help. One thing is clear, however: being silent doesnāt help.
So if you enjoy reading this newsletter then Iām asking you to donate to one of these causes, or donate to the cause thatās already in your laser-like focus. Because I know that I certainly donāt do enough, and the world could do with so much more justice.
Black lives matter,
Robin.
