Friends, comrades.
Adventures is on hiatus right now but let’s get right to it: there are organizations that need our help. There are people out there doing hard work and fighting like hell. And here’s one small way you can help them:
There are countless other ways to donate, to read, to care for this issue and in ways I am surely ignorant of. But many years ago a friend told me—I forget who it was now—of their favorite Roman adage (yes, all my friends have favorite Roman adages):
“Do Justice,” they said. “And let the skies fall.”
Sure, justice can be big—revolutionary even, with the toppling of governments and the overthrowing of evil empires—but it cannot always be quite so grand. Sometimes we must permit ourselves small and incremental justice; reading a book you might otherwise skip right over, helping someone you might otherwise not help. One thing is clear, however: being silent doesn’t help.
So if you enjoy reading this newsletter then I’m asking you to donate to one of these causes, or donate to the cause that’s already in your laser-like focus. Because I know that I certainly don’t do enough, and the world could do with so much more justice.
Black lives matter,
Robin.
