Markets and Last Revisions

Hello everyone! I hope you had a good November. This month was special because I was a vendor at a market for the first time!

I signed up for the Toronto Night Market back in the summer and gradually began to accumulate the supplies I’d need. But as I got closer to the date, I realized there were more and more things I needed to get. Somehow, I’d forgotten all about buying a cash box and taking cash out of the bank for a float. Or getting some display easels for my book. And somehow I also missed the memo about needing to bring my own chair until a few days before.

But despite all this, I made it to the market with all my essentials and everything went fine.

I wasn’t sure what to expect going in, but the people in the booths around me were friendly and chatting with them helped pass the time. I also learned some tricks from them and I have more ideas for next time!

I knew going into the market that books would be a difficult sell. For myself, I rarely impulse buy a book. I’ll see it in the store and save the title somewhere so I can read reviews or a sample at my own leisure. So I knew not everyone who passed by the table and looked at the books would buy them. My goal was to sell one copy and I ended up selling more! I also gave away some bookmarks with all my info on them. So, overall it was a success!

I signed up to vend at another market in December and I’m excited to apply my ideas to my booth there.

Revision Progress

In addition to prepping for the market, I’ve been working on my edits for I Knew Him! I received them in early November and have gone through my editor’s suggestions and changes. Now, I’m just giving the book a final pass-through to see if anything sticks out at me as something I don’t like before passing it on for a second round of edits.

As I’m writing this, I have about 50 pages left to go through, so I’m hopeful I can get it done soon. Ideally, I want it done before I travel for the holidays. I don’t want it to be on my mind while on vacation.

I’ve been enjoying revising the book with fresh eyes and reading it all over again. At this point, I must’ve read and reread this book hundreds of times, but I still enjoy it. I’m happy for that!
