Letting Life Happen
It’s been a couple months since I sent out an update. I took most of September and October off. After wrapping up my final edits for Be True and my initial edits for I Knew Him, I decided to take a break from writing. I knew that when I get my edits back for I Knew Him, I will be quite busy, so I wanted to enjoy the down time while I could.
In September and October, I spent a lot of my time preparing for community theatre auditions. As I mentioned in an update last fall, I wanted to try and get back into my old hobbies, including theatre. I was having trouble finding groups I could audition for that were accessible via public transit and whose auditions were on days I was available. This year, I managed to find three groups that were holding auditions in the fall fall. Each audition was a learning experience and overall a very fun time. I’m definitely ready for a break from auditions now, though. Stay tuned for more theatre news!
As you may have seen on my Instagram or Facebook pages, I also attended a lot of live performances, both music and theatre, in the late summer and fall. I always find the arts so inspiring and it definitely got me thinking about future projects.
As for book news, I’ve started to work on getting Be True ready for uploading to distributors. I spent the last weekend formatting the Word document, and I’m hoping to convert it to ebook soon. When I started this draft, I didn’t pre-format the document, so I’m hoping I worked out the quirks left behind from auto-formatting. I’m anticipating some surprises. These days, I’m trying to minimize my formatting woes when starting newer documents, but back when I began this WIP, I wasn’t thinking that far ahead.
My plan with Be True and I Knew Him is to release them at the same time. When edits with I Knew Him wrap up, I’ll set a release date. But for now, I want to get Be True up to snuff well in advance so I’m not trying to format two books at once. Once Be True is ready, it’ll sit in my drafts until I Knew Him can join it for pre-orders.
I’m scheduled to get I Knew Him edits back from my editor in early November. Once I get those, I will be hitting the ground running to get the first round done in a reasonable time frame. Ideally, I’d like finish with edits before 2026, so all I have to worry about is working on the release. But we’ll see what actually happens!
