July Updates!
I hope everyone had a pleasant June! This past month for me was mostly a month of recuperation. I had dental surgery as well as my second vaccine, so needless to say, I spent most of the month lying down. I did, however, get a few things done! Read on to find out!
Midnight is released!
First of all, my second poetry collection, Midnight, was released right at the beginning of the month! Nearly all the poems were written in the early lockdown. If you haven’t had a chance to snag a copy yet, now is the time!
Discover new non-fiction reads!
My first poetry collection Poems Worth Saving is featured this month in a free non-fiction promotion. Your next great non-fiction read awaits, all for free!
Short Film Music
This past month, I also had the chance to compose some music for a short animation. It was a challenge to pull together my vision, but I’m really happy with the end result. I recorded myself playing the piano (which I still get nervous about, to be honest), and then manipulated the recording to create ambient noise. Overall, I had a lot of fun working on it, even if I got a little stressed towards the end. I wasn’t sure I’d be able to finish it before my deadline, but I pulled through in the end.
Up Next
This coming month is Camp NaNoWriMo, an online writing event where authors set goals for themselves and try to achieve them by the end of the month. I’m keeping my goal fairly small, since writing at this moment is not the quickest process. My main wish is to finish a short horror story I’d like to submit for a call. If I manage that in July, I will also begin to work on a young adult short story that takes place during the summer in Toronto. If I can accomplish both, I’ll be very happy!
I hope you all have a pleasant July, and that you’re able to stay safe and beat the heat if you live in a particularly warm area. I’m looking forward to spending some time with family (finally) and enjoying the weather as much as I can. Talk to you next time!
