This is a New Year, A reflection from the previous year and the way forward.
Whew... Just like today, I remembered the first day of 2023.
Just like everyone, I created goals, I wanted to achieve, milestones I wanted to break, and fantasies I needed to experience.
This year showed me some sege, personally, emotionally, financially, business-wise, and health-wise but in all, I am delighted that I can still stand tall despite all the challenges.
What I have learned last Year:
There is a difference in setting goals and giving them what it takes to achieve them.
Just like everyone I had my goals written down, even more detailed than what some people might have written down, but I realized at the end that it takes a lot of courage and discipline to be able to execute the goals that I have written down for myself. You need an emotional balance and consistent mental toughness to be able to keep the activities that will make you achieve your goals.
Situations and plans will not go as planned.
Well, some will, but most time it won't. I realized there is a need to fight and be strong-headed to make sure that even if plans aren't going as planned, you must still achieve them.
It's known that it's important to have a fixed goal, but the process of achieving these goals should not be fixed.
If plan A doesn't work, try plan B, and so on, until you finally achieve that specific goal.
Do not Assume you or others know the right things to do:
Omoo, I assumed a lot that due to the fact I've got some knowledge, I should be able to get some things done, right?
isn't that how it should be?
Sadly, it isn't.
Do not ever assume that you can get something done without having to make any effort towards achieving it.
The same goes for anyone who owns a business. Never assume that your partners, employees, or associates know what they should do.
Never assume, always be the person who keeps talking, keeps reminding others, and keeps monitoring to ensure things go right. You can be the "Your-own-too-much-self" kind of person now, but trust me. You won't regret doing this.
In the end, it benefits everyone, right?
Yes, it does.
No matter what you go through, never allow anything to affect your mental health.
This is something I have learned personally around 2015/2016, that will be a story for another day.
Since learning this I have always implemented it to myself, and this has been a huge saving grace for me last year. I had many breakdowns, disappointments, failures, and challenges. It is enough to break one down, but being the fact that I was able to protect my mental health from these issues, I can pick myself up, dust myself, and keep going.
Equally, I saw a lot of people who experienced the same but were not able to save their mental health. Hence, this resulted in giving up, quitting activities, and even breaking bridges that shouldn't have been broken.
Some people would say, "It cannot be me, shebi, everyone has problems, I have my own too, and nobody knows how I got it solved". Well good for you. A lot of people don't know how to solve theirs, and you might not be better than them.
Your mental health is the key to living a fulfilled life.
If your Mental health is gone, it will be difficult for you to:
Make Money
Build quality relationships
Live healthy
Live a life of purpose and so on.
So, as you begin this year, that should be something you prioritize the more. Find every means to develop your mental health, because you can't always run from challenges by saying "I want to protect my mental health". You have to develop your mental health so you can hold and withstand a lot of challenges.
What is life without challenges???
You can't do things alone, as you progress in life you need 3 kinds of people. You need A Coach, A Mentor, and a Sponsor.
I figured, along the way last year, that I needed to have this set of people in my life's progress if I needed substantial changes soon.
These 3 people are very different, A coach is different from a Mentor, and the same for a Sponsor. I think Vusi Thembakwayo explained it very well in his VT Podcast. I strongly recommend listening to him, he's got lots of content that will be helpful to you.
This makes sense because now, you have people, that are there to guide you, advise you, scold you, teach you, and also stand in for you in your absence.
I feel if I had these people earlier, I would have gotten more out of 2023, but then, we live to learn, right?
I know it's hard to pick the right person for each category, but you just need to.
I'm still figuring it out too.
So, those are the few things I did learn from last year.
What I plan to do better:
For this question, a lot mehn.
I have a lot of things to do better, I mean a lot.
I mean, who won't have a plan to do better than the previous year? Like who!!
So, here are a few things I want to do better at this year.
First, Solve problems.
lol, you might be thinking, am I Elon Musk ni abi Jeff Bezos? Sorry sir, here's what I mean.
One principle of life that applies to wealth is that. When you have solutions to a problem it automatically creates wealth once monetized.
I know that to make money, I need to solve problems for people.
In my case, I want to help Insurance agents get more clients/leads and also help e-commerce store owners get more sales. While also building the entrepreneurial capacity of myself and other people looking to build and own a business - Network Marketing.
I also know that the more people I help, the more money I make. The higher the quality of solutions I provide, the higher the money-making potential I can get.
Does this mean I can't do things for free? Well, I can try, if I know I will still get financial benefits from it in the near future.
If you can do it for FREE, please do, but for me, I'm about the financial benefits. Dangote sef no dey give free things.
Second, Learn from the mistakes and achievements I had last year.
Yes, I need to. I believe in every failure or achievement there is a lesson to be learnt.
I'm still assessing my mistakes and achievements from last year, and omo, I don forget some sef 🙃. But you understand what I mean right?
It might be that what I intended to do was the right thing to do, but I just did it at the wrong time, or I didn't put in the right effort which made me not get it right. It might be that the achievement I got was due to the efforts of some other people and not mine, it is what it is and that is why it is called Life.
This is why, I need to evaluate all my wins and losses, and I strongly advise that you should do that too.
And finally, Take more action by working, working, and working.
Shey you will not keee yourself bayi?
No, I won't, Instead I will achieve my goals and even more than my goals.
My goals for this year are massive, and I can only achieve that by purely working, just work.
Morning, work.
Afternoon, work.
Night, work.
Midnight, work.
I still have the strength and energy to do that now, and I will gladly make good use of my strength to build a substantial amount of wealth for myself. (If you are wondering what am I doing gaan sef, no worry, just mail me {adebakinra@gmail.com}, and I will tell you.
So, that's it.
I know this year is going to be massive, and I will do more than my best to make it a memorable year. I hope you do the same too.
If you read till the end, I would love to know your comment about this.
I plan on journaling weekly or multiple times weekly (I will work on making it consistent).
Thank you for reading till the end, I'll catch you on the next one.
Your boy,
Adebakin Ridwan.
