Hello and thank you for opening The Lunation Report. We are reporting a beautiful Lemon-Wedge shaped moon last night which bestowed blessings of immortality/citrus zest on everyone who looked at it.

I'm really happy that it's Fall and that things are cooling down. I wanted to get this email out to announce a concert and to do a little more updating on ongoing practicing/performing.

Some October updates now ...

As some of my amazing and handsome followers may know I've been leading a small group of students along the first paths of the shakuhachi life. We are studying music for the shakuhachi that is meant to be played with the string instruments of Japan, Shamisen and Koto. In October we got to have a masterclass with Sumie Kaneko, one of the top koto players that we have in NYC.

We all learned a lot from having a lesson with Sumie sensei and getting ready for the meeting with her gave the class a nice goal to prepare for. I hope we get her back next semester.

I love meeting with all my students at the same time together - everyone gets to hear each other play every week. We have various levels of experience present every time and it's been a rare musical learning situation to be able to give the more experienced students material to work on and the less experienced players exposure to good shakuhachi sounds.

We are currently looking for a new place to meet so if anyone reading this can host us please reach out to me!
