Hope everyone is doing OK! I’m reaching out today to alert you to some things I have going on. I realize it’s been a while since I last updated this list.

Last fall I was extremely blessed to take over the shakuhachi class at Columbia University. Working at Columbia through such a … moment … has been intense to observe. If anything, I’m trying to carry on the work of my teachers and use the shakuhachi class as a space of repose, safety, and hard music work. I couldn’t be more proud of the students I have and I’ll be sad to see the ones graduating leave this spring. We will have our semester end recital on May 1 - if you’d like to come I can put you on the list. It’s free!

Speaking of free things - Tomorrow 3/24 I’ll be participating in the World Music Institue’s WMI Plus At Home series Here’s a link to this online event. We start at 6PM.

In this event I’ll be playing shakuhachi alongside my teacher, Ralph Samuelson. We will talk about the instrument itself and a bit about the tradition it is taught in.

Next month on May 8th I’ll be performing as part of WMI’s Japanese Salon series at the Globus Washitsu in Manhattan. Here’s a link to that performance.
