in the black and white photograph which is a copy of a copy & which sits on the bookcase are my grandfather and my emergency backup grandfather. they should not know each other, but of course somehow they do. at first one is smoking, and the other looks away at something out of frame. when i am not looking they look at each other as though through either side of a mirror; the mirror is my grandmother. when i am not looking is of course when they both see me.
