One of my favorite moments from this week’s interviews was Arula Ratnakar’s discussion of using special interests in her fiction. For Arula, this takes the shape of hard science fiction incorporating science special interests, but of course a special interest can be anything from a particular TV show to vacuum cleaners to varieties of yarn.
