Call For Interviews: Autistic Reader Month, 2023
Everything Is True
Ada Hoffmann's author newsletter
Two years ago, for Autism Month 2021, I set up a series of interviews with autistic writers.
This year I'm doing it again - but with a twist.
2021's questions, like most author interview questions, were mostly questions about writing. What did each author like to write? How did being autistic impact what they wrote? How did it impact their experiences with publishing and the industry?
This year, we're going to ask autistic writers about reading.
We'll talk about what autistic writers love to read, what makes them feel seen, what makes a book accessible and what makes it just plain fun.
Both sets of questions are important, but I feel like this set is asked less often, and it'll be a fun change.
Would you like to participate? Email me at ada [dot] the [dot] space [dot] pod [at] gmail [dot] com, introduce yourself, and I'll send you the list of questions.
You need to be willing to openly identify as autistic in order to participate, but you don't need to be medically diagnosed or to fit any other particular criteria. You don't have to have a particular number of publications out (or even any publications out at all). And, while I think that this series will mostly feature writers, you do not have to identify as a writer; if you are autistic, love books, have opinions about books, and feel that this interview series could be a good fit for you, then I'd be happy to include you.
Autistic people of color, non-speaking or semi-speaking autistic people, and autistic people from non-Western countries are especially welcome!
