My name is Carlo and I'm the author of the Actions for Obsidian app for macOS & iOS, and Browser Actions for macOS. You're receiving this email because you signed up for updates about the ActionsDotWork apps on my website some time ago.
I'm happy to announce the release of AFO 2024.2 on macOS and iOS. This update introduces a number of convenience changes to the notes-related actions, plus several new features. Here are the headliner features:
Note actions, unite! Merging of general notes and Periodic Notes functionality
General support for note UIDs
Periodic notes support in Note Properties actions
Entirely overhauled and expanded documentation both in-app and online
AFO spricht jetzt auch Deutsch! (Full German localization)
Itβs a solid update. Read the full release notes on the forum, check the AFO webpage, or get the update on the App Store.
You might remember me announcing Browser Actions for macOS 13.3+ a while ago. BA adds well-rounded macOS Shortcuts support for Brave Browser, Chromium, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Vivaldi. And Safari! Pretty exciting stuff.
There was a TestFlight, it was successful, although I ran into a few problems in macOS. Talking to Apple about them, it became clear that the app wouldn't make it through the App Review process because it uses macOS APIs in a way that is not sanctioned by Apple. Basically, Browser Actions uses the accessibility features of macOS, but since it's not an accessibility app, that's not allowed. π€·π»ββοΈ
Since I didn't want to bury the project, I decided to make Browser Actions fit for release outside the App Store. For that, I had to build a new infrastructure and rewrite the application, which took a while. But the good news is, there will be a public beta of Browser Actions soon! I'll keep you posted.
It's a good idea to keep an eye on the Browser Actions message board as it's the best place for sharing feedback and discussing ideas. You can sign in there with your Apple/ GitHub/ Google accounts, pretty convenient!
