New projects!
Hello! It’s been a few months since I updated this, mostly because I haven’t had many new events coming up and my migraines have been getting worse. I started digitizing my DVD collection and have been thinking a lot about personal media libraries in the age of streaming. I recommend everyone do the best they can to own all the art they love. If you want tips, feel free to reach out!
I’m planning on running some more workshops centered around that idea as well so look forward to that.
What’s cooking
I’ve made a lot of progress on my upcoming interactive fiction game THE OCEAN WELCOMES YOU. Right now I’m working on graphics because it’s structured a lot like a visual novel so there needs to be visuals! That’s something that I haven’t dealt with before when using Twine to make IF games, since Twine is usually purely text. It’s been a fun change and I owe my life to pexels.com for all the stock copyright-free images it’s letting me edit to my heart’s content.
Here’s an example of one of the graphics in the game:

So that’s the vibe I’m going for.
I’ve also been making more progress on a short story I’m writing! The working title (which is subject to change) is Reruns, or: Bianca Josefina Allende Gets A Do-Over. It’s about a girl who keeps dying, meeting Death, and being allowed to come back. It explores the idea of hauntings, grief, and what having a Very Weird relationship with death is like.
I recently did a casual workshopping night with friends and figured out some things about where I want the story to go that I’m really excited by. I’m not sure how long it’ll take me to finish it, but I’ve been adding a couple hundred works every week. Slow and steady wins the short story race, haha.
Website updates
Recently, the website that I host all of my writing on (Itch.io) ran into trouble with a conservative group from Australia demanding that credit card companies and payment processors stop allowing payments for things that they deem are “inappropriate”. This means any kind of porn, anything with potentially sensitive themes, etc. A whole lot of art was delisted and many creators are still not able to access the funds they made from their art.
Because the censorship of the internet continues to run rampant (see also: the UK’s recent laws requiring you to submit a photo ID in order to access websites deemed 18+, one of which is the popular messaging app Discord, as well as like every social media website) I decided to self-host everything I create on my own website: acd.works
You’re still able to toss me some money through acdworks.itch.io, I’m not taking anything down, but now you can access everything I’ve posted on acdworks.itch.io straight from my website without having to go through a middleman! All the links have been updated as of this morning.
If you encounter a link that doesn’t work, please message me on instagram or email me at contact.acdworks@gmail.com!
a.c.d works archives
I’ve been attending a poetry reading space called Word Soup for the past few months and been reminded of some poems I’ve written! So today I’ll be sharing the chapbook I published a few years ago.
the body is a chapbook exploring autonomy and reality through the things the body does (and the things you don't want it to do).
