Day 4, Phase 2

Nathan’s map.

***

London-based practicing philosopher Vladimir Pastukhov answers the question, “When will it end?”

No one knows, and no one knows what “it” is.

Cut-offs:

  • Two months, approximately until June (it will become clear whether it is possible to conquer Ukraine, without using nuclear weapons)

  • Four-five months, approximately until August (it will become clear whether it is possible to conquer Ukraine in principle)

  • 12-14 months, approximately until the summer of next year (it will become clear whether Russia can survive in isolation without oil and gas trade with Europe)

Each next cut-off can only be reached by surviving the previous one. After each cut-off, some new reality, or unreality will be established.

Pastukhov’s extended remarks for Current Time are here.

The Washington Post and The New York Times latch on to war-adjacent content milling, specifically the POW kneecapping video posted by TikTok-ers the day before yesterday. The credibility of both newspapers, which for years have referred to Russia-occupation forces in Donbas as pro-Russian separatists, is near zero. We all remember Sabrina Tavernise. Looking on the bright side, Carlotta’s articles about the siege of Kyiv are different.

Running season starts on Friday.
