Day 15, Phase 3

Map c/o Nathan

There won’t be much left of Severodonetsk (Sievierodonetsk) when the war ends. There’s not much left now. Check out sd.ua for the latest news about the siege.

Luhansk Region’s Military Administration chief Serhiy Haidai said the situation there and in neighboring Lysychansk is dire. Thousands of shell-shocked civilians have refused to evacuate. Chechens w/ Terminator fighting vehicles, Wagner PMC killers and Russia military contract soldiers are attacking.

In early 2014, Russia-occupation forces occupied both cities. Ukraine took them back later that year.

The BMPT-72, also nicknamed Terminator 2, is a tank fire support vehicle based on the chassis of the T-72 tank. It’s able to fight a full range of modern targets like main battle tanks, infantry fighting vehicles and other combat vehicles, dismounted infantry, and guided-missile combat teams.
The European Union in 2016 helped rebuild the bridge between Severodonetsk and Lysychansk over the Siverskyi Donets River. The Russian invaders blew it to smithereens a couple of days ago.

Haidai on May 23 said that during the attack on Severodonetsk, the enemy was active near Purdivka and Oleksandrivka, and also attacked Toshkivka (southeast of Severodonetsk). Ukraine’s defense forces a day earlier repulsed eleven enemy attacks, destroyed six tanks, ten armored vehicles and six vehicles of the enemy, he added.
