The Week(ish) in A Bad Education Towers #006

Intro

Well, this is what happens sometimes.

Video

So after the top 100 video was posted its back to the Mean Machines Audit videos as the main weekly video. Although I did get around to posting an update on playing through Luigi’s Mansion 3:

Then after that it’s been a bit of a procrastinating few weeks; the amount of scheduled videos was starting to run out and it was at the point I needed to record some more audits to keep that going and then also edit the podcast and then work on the next video and do the newsletter and…

So I played Super Metroid instead. And then practiced the first level of Ghouls ‘n Ghosts till I could do it without losing a life. And I had a big nap on a Saturday afternoon. Not sure why, thats just what I wanted to do. The problem is when that lasts weeks and/or months and nothing gets done. Thats why if you look at the videos on the channel there’s a massive gap between uploads, and why I still haven’t finished the Film of 1988 articles I was doing on the website.

Yes I work full time, yes I have two kids, yes I want to watch films and play games and whatever but finding an hour a week to get stuff done? Should be do-able. One thing I’m proud of this year is that there’s been weekly videos since March on the channel and the podcast has been monthly as well. The podcast slipped a bit this month but have four videos to upload for the channel so that’ll cheap going. I’m not expecting to make a living out of this kind of stuff, I just enjoy the process of creating stuff and not doing that puts me in a bad headspace. Not really bad, just a general state of bleurgh that doesn’t help anything.

Anyways. Think that was just a dip, have scripts and such on the go. Also, if you have any questions or anything about the Top 100 list then let me know as making an epilogue video at some point just to tie that off.

Bad Timing

Trust the cinema to close just before I got to see Akira at the cinema. Honestly. IMAX and everything. I mean, I know people will be losing their jobs and the whole industry is on a knife edge but, really, just one more week? Thats all I needed. Ah well. Fingers crossed it’ll come around again at some point, as long as there still are cinemas I guess.

The whole thing sucks from the film delays to the cinemas being closed to the people up and down the process that have lost their livelihoods. I’ve always loved going to the cinema from a young age and tried to give that to my kids well. Think I succeeded with my eldest but it’ll be different for my youngest. He’s 6 so just at that age that where all that pop culture nostalgia you have in later life is created. When my eldest was that age we were at the cinema practically every week, but thats a bit trickier now to say the least. Guess, like everything else, it’s one of those things where we’ll need to wait and see how everything shakes out and go from there.

Akira in IMAX, though. Jesus.

Outro

Next week I’ll stick a reminder on my phone, promise
