The Week In A Bad Education Towers #001
Intro
Right, lets have another go at a newsletter then.
Home Alone
So, the rest of the family were invited up to Scotland on a last minute trip which left me at home with the dog. Which is fine, as I was able to finally able to get this watched:
There’s been a great run of Jackie Chan reprints recently, like this this and this which is brilliant, these films have long deserved the nice new versions they’ve been getting. There was a time, after Rumble In The Bronx made money that Dimension Films picked up any Jackie Chan they could lay their hands on, chopped em up and pushed them out into the Western Market. Armour of God II was one of these films that suffered this, which has now been resolved with this re-master. Sure, it’s not proper top tier Jackie Chan but it’s real close to the top. It has some great moments so it’s well worth picking up.
Another Gone
Kamala, The Ugandan Giant died last week, which is obviously very sad. His gimmick, that of a wild African savage, wasn’t exactly the most inclusive but he made it work. He had two short periods in the WWF, the second one in the early 90s is when I remember him the most. He was a great foil for the big baby faces, but never had a really big run at the top. After news of his death came out I saw this short documentary that was made about him being shared on Twitter which is really worth a watch:
It’s always worth remembering that even when they’re at the biggest company in the world, not everyone gets the big bucks.
Stuff We’ve Done
What with this being the first of these, not going to just stick to stuff in the last week. Case in point, this video of me reviewing the MegaPi case has was posted back at the end of July:
One of the points I raised in that is whilst this cases are great, there aren’t any for the newest Raspberry Pi 4. Well, there is now as you can get a NES style case here, which may be the start of the floodgates for more variants. Is it too much to ask for a Saturn case? That’d be ace.
We posted another episode of The Conquistabores as well:
This was another fun record, ending up with the creation of Stone Cold Alan Shearer, which is just begging for a t-shirt to be made of it.
The next show is for Starrcade 1990, another WCW show which bodes well. This era of WCW is well known for, well, crapness of a level not before considered by man. If you want to give your thoughts on it, let us know on Twitter or Facebook or anywhere else you fancy really.
Obviously, we’ve done more (like my Top 100 Video Games List which is rattling on) but don’t want to go on for too long.
Other Stuff
I do love my Kindle; yes, you can read books on your phone or iPad but the Kindle screen is real easy on the eye. I have got a load of books on there from Humble Bundles I’ve still to read (and some manga which looks REAL good on the Kindle screen) but that doesn’t stop me buying new stuff, or in this case new old stuff in the shape of Judge Dredd: Dominion.
This is a Judge Dredd novel, as you’d expect, which came out in the mid-90s. I do still have my copy on the shelf, but I wanted to read it and was upstairs in bed and was lazy and it only cost a fiver so why not. Its a great daft tale of an alternate reality Mega City 1 trying to invade the world of Judge Dredd which is great. It’s essentially your Mirror Universe take on the world of Dredd, something which is always fun. It’s not the greatest novel ever written but it’s fun and thats all I need sometimes.
Also for my birthday my son was given this action figure from one of the Fortnite lines:

He’s a great looking fella, about the size of the old style GI Joe/Action Force figures. I swear, if I had the space I chuck all my money at these and Transformers and the Marvel Legends and Star Wars and everything else. I love them, but have neither the money or the space right at the moement so living vicariously through my kids as best I can for now.
Outro
Right, thats all I can think of for this week. Hopefully I’ll get these out on a regular basis, so please subscribe to here, the YouTube channel, everywhere you can really. That’d be lovely.
