The (Fortnight) in A Bad Education Towers #004
Intro
Well, it had to happen at some point didn’t it?
New Videos
So we got to posting the 50th of the Mean Machines Sega Guide Audit videos:
Main issue with this; if I’d kept to a weekly schedule we should be on episode 314, which would have meant we’d have done the Mega Drive games and been deep into the Master System. Clearly we’re a bit behind; the first video was posted on 5th September 2014 which was about a month after my second son was born which, clearly, didn’t help with productivity. I’ve managed to keep these weekly since March so, fingers crossed, we won’t exactly catch up but we won’t fall behind. He says, a week after forgetting to do a newsletter.
Also getting close to the finish of the Top 100 list, so need to start work on the prep for the epilogue episode I’ll do. Also have another video ready to post but we’ll get to that in a minute.
Happy COVID Birthday
My eldest son turned 16 this year, just to reinforce the idea that I’m Getting Really Old.
Seriously, in one year I’m 40, one kid is 16 and I’ve done 10 years at my job.
Anyways, he had a good birthday despite it being in a global pandemic; he got Doom Eternal and that Avengers game, as well as a keyboard controller for Ableton as he’s started getting well into that over the last few months.
Just to complete the feeling of the world laughing at us, that same day his brother came home from school with fever and a persistent cough. So thats two of the symptoms in less than a week back at school. To be safe both were off school the next day so the house can self isolate. This of course means if his brother had the symptoms a day earlier he could have had his whole birthday day at home from school.
Unlucky.
This birthday also spurred me on to finish a video I started last year. Well, wrote down the idea for at least. This was when he turned 15 and could legally see 15 certificate films at the cinema. It got me thinking about the films I watched as a kid and what I’ve allowed to watch. Got it filmed when the family were in Scotland and have just finished the edit so thats schedule to go up in the week.
A Good Post Day
My physical copy of Streets of Rage 4 for the Switch arrived this week, which was very nice. I mean, I’d already bought the game digitally; it was on sale when it came out so with the gold points it was under a tenner and I’m a weak man.
It’s great, it’s like a big oversized Mega Drive box with the hanger thing at the top and everything. The sleeve is reversible so you can have it as Genesis if you really need to. Pretty sure this copy has sold out but Limited Run Games do sometimes have some that pop back on the site so who knows. I also did a quick unboxing video of it as well:
Outro
Maybe I’ll set a reminder for next week? Who knows. Feel free to remind me on twitter, where you can also see me eating my way though my giant box of Japanese Snacks that I got as a late birthday present. Only one so far I couldn’t eat, it being minced fish and plum, with the rest being nothing less that an absolute treat.
