The Christmas TV Strategy Guide 2021
3rd January 2022
1150 - ITV4
Despite it being a Bank Holiday, the channels are a bit light on interesting stuff. I guess thats due to them saving all their best bits for over the festive period. The first week of January never feels festive, Bank Holiday or no Bank Holiday, but you’ve got a good run of films here; The Sting is a top class caper film with an amazing cast, then both original Ghostbusters films and then capped off with Dr No. Honestly, a Bank Holiday without Bond isn’t worth thinking about
1155 - ITV
This is probably Armageddon to A Bug’s Life’s Deep Impact. Both released in the same year, this is the one with the weird casting of Woody Allen in the main role. Yeah, thats aged about as well as the CG in the film, the rest of the film is still an interesting watch though.
2100 - Paramount
That one star up there is very harsh. Yes, this isn’t a great film but its a great stupid film. Honestly, its worth watching for Raul Julia alone who takes a dumb villain role and injects it with his legendary charm. Thats worth at least three stars by itself, surely
0125 - Film4
No better way to end the guide than with this film; a top drawer crime film set in dirty grimy New York with a jet black line of humour right through the middle of it along with an absolute belter of a film score. Seriously, this is one of the best films of the 70s and the fact that its not one of the modern remakes is even better,
See you nest year!
