The Christmas TV Strategy Guide 2020
Boxing Day! Which I'm sure had something to go with the fisticuffs kind of boxing (maybe) but now mainly refers to wondering what you're going to do with all the empty boxes for all this new crap thats in your house. Enjoy!
1100 - Film4
Today on FIlm4 we have a look at Chris Evans' film career, starting off this with film towards the beginning in his pre-Sunshine phase in the second of the Fantastic Four films. He's not bad in this film, he's certainly better than the first film it's just not that great a film. It's supposed to be the big classic Galactus story but the film shies away from the big daft stuff which is a real shame as proper spikey helmet Galactus towering over stuff is awesome, as Fortnite of all things just proved. It still worth a watch though, it does give good Silvery Surfer and Michael Chiklis is probably still the perfect casting for Ben Grimm who has some good chemistry, to get back to him again, with Chris Evans
1200 - Channel 4
I don't know if it's because I ended up seeing this film several times at the cinema thanks to it showing up loads of times as the Saturday Morning Kids film but, you know what, it's not too bad at all! It's no Pixar level film but it's a good enjoyable kids film that doesn't insult your intelligence too much
1330 - PBS America
Fancy spending all day watching an in depth Ken Burns documentary about Country AND Western music? Well here you go, and I don't even think it's the full series
1630 - BBC2
More BBC fun with the second best of the Wallace and Gromit shorts, followed up by a Christmas Dad's Army special. Then more Morcambe and Wise, this time with some lost episodes that were recently found. They should a show about the BBC department saving these old shows, the state of some of the original materials they have to work with is astounding. But they didn't do that, you can just watch their final output instead
1845 - Channel 5
Here we go! We're not into the post Christmas/pre-New Year slump until the first massive heavy object gets lifted up by a really strong man, and this is where it all starts
2030 - ITV2
Yes, FIlm's Greatest Family is back to drive more cars very fast down impossibly long roads whilst Jason Statham sneaks in and steals the film out from under them
2320 - Film4
And we end the day with the second part of the Film4 look at the career of Chris Evans, this time his in post-Captain America bearded phase. Here's he stars in this great sci-fi film set in a post apocalyptic world stuck on a train, the eponymous Snowpiercer. And it shows just how far he's grown as an actor since those early days, he brings real presence to his role and fits in well against the other more established 'proper' actors in the film. I would say a treat but its pretty bleak in parts. Pretty, pretty bleak
