Tarot #17: The Star🌟

Path #17 in the journey of the Tarot Major Arcana. The Star!

We love Stars because they get to live the dream.

The Star kneels naked at the water's edge, pouring starlight into the pool of the subconscious and onto the earth in equal measure. Loss, theft, privation, abandonment -- every star is borne in darkness. Yet another reading suggests hope and bright prospects in the future, the quiet certainty that light endures and waters flow into greenery after the Tower's destruction. Reversed: Arrogance, impotence, haughtiness. The star that believes it shines only for itself. Altogether a complex yet beautiful being, just like the girl reading this.

UPRIGHT: Loss, Privation, Hope, Bright prospects

REVERSED: Arrogance, Impotence, Haughtiness, Disconnection

The Star is quite the most wonderful card to look at. Who doesn’t love the stars? Constellations gave Mankind big dreams, and even bigger imaginings and wonderings. What is out there? Are those the Gods? Am I truly alone with such majestic glory overseeing my domain? The Star is yet a card of mystery and restoration and the cool-flowing waters of insight and intuition; observing the stars requires a resolution of phantasy and potential preternatural encountering. You may indeed be staring into the countenance of God. The Star card is filled with heavenly energy; to avert your gaze from the sky is to steal a part of your own soul, you know.

On the journey, the hero embraces the unknown, surrenders to the glorious terror of fate…

Bottom Line: When you draw The Star, begin to wonder.

Tree of Life Path: Netzach ⟷ Yesod. Victory x Foundation, just as stars power the cosmos’ great turning, the production of Stars keeps society sane, someone to love and to hate in the same cycle, someone who we can observe, emulate, and project onto.

A.E. Waite quote: “That which the figure communicates to the living scene is the substance of the heavens and the elements. It has been said truly that the mottoes of this card are ‘Waters of Life freely’ and ‘Gifts of the Spirit’...But she is in reality the Great Mother in the Kabalistic Sephira Binah, which is supernal Understanding, who communicates to the Sephiroth that are below in the measure that they can receive her influx.”

Notice on the Tree of Life how The Star🌟 path is not a part of the ⚡Lightning Path⚡ - which goes from Netzach to Hod (Victory x Splendor / The Tower) - but providences a vital off-shoot below, an oblique form of turning Netzach’s emotional force into the supernal logic required for Yesod’s sphere to emanate, the Foundation of Our Reality.

Previous: Tower | Next: Moon
