Wednesdays 2025 Roundup

(td;lr we are nominated for the IGF Audience Award, it would help a lot if you could vote for us here)

Hi, it’s Pierre, the writer of Wednesdays! It’s been a long time! What have you been up to?

A new year is starting and I wanted to use this opportunity to reflect on what happened to Wednesdays during 2025 (Happy New Year by the way!).

Let’s start with the greatest news: Wednesdays has been nominated for two awards at the Independent Game Festival! For those who have never heard of it: The IGF, in San Francisco, is the oldest and most prestigious festival celebrating indie games. Think Sundance, but for video games.

Our nominations are:

- Excellence in Narrative, previously won by masterpieces such as Immortality, Heaven’s Vault, Return of the Obra Dinn or Night in the Woods

- And the Nuovo Award (Innovation award), previously won by indie gems such as Consume Me, Getting Over it, Cibele or Tetrageddon Games.

MOREOVER, Wednesdays is also a contender for the Audience Award, and the audience is… you! If you enjoyed our game (I hope you did not subscribe to this newsletter out of spite), you could support us by voting for Wednesdays here!

It only takes 5 seconds and while an email address is required, it’s only to avoid vote spamming. You will not subscribe to anything, there is no trick.

Now, the IGF nomination is not the only reason to celebrate. Wednesdays is also nominated for two awards at the Indiecade festival that will take place on January 17th: the Narrative Award, and the Impact award!

It won the Social Impact Award at the Latam Indie Awards (partly thanks to you!)

It was nominated for Emotional Impact at the Indie Game Awards (we lost against And Roger, an amazing game!)

And last but not least, it won Games For Change’s Global Voices Challenge, which came with mentoring and a big cash prize, allowing us to work on [REDACTED] that should be released in [REDACTED]. Isn’t that exciting?!

That’s not all! Wednesdays also ended up in so many “Best of 2025” lists!

- Checkpoint Gaming (EN)

- The Minnmax Show (EN)

- Silence on joue (FR)

- Origami (FR)

- Mediapart (FR)

- Ecran Large (FR)

- Téma les jeux (FR)

- Jesuisungamer (FR)

- Actugaming (FR)

- Arttribune (IT)

All of this is sincerely heart-warming, it really seems we DID make a great game, despite poor sales figures. Maybe we’re in some kind of Velvet Underground situation? (we do have a Nico). One can dream!

Anyway, don’t forget to vote for your favorite game for the IGF Audience Award, and see you in March for the next surprise!
