Chateau of Shadows #7 - Carmella Creeper Is Trans
It’s very important to me that you understand Carmella Creeper is a transsexual.
Maybe you don’t know what I’m talking about. Possibly you’re not a fan of seasonal novelty cereals and/or mascots. That’s fine. Weird, but fine.
In 2023, US food giant General Mills - which may be one of the few companies not to create breakfast cereals in an attempt to reduce masturbation - expanded its popular line of seasonal Monster Cereals to include a new, caramel apple-flavored cereal complete with mascot. This cool alt-girl zombie is named Carmella Creeper and she is, and I cannot stress this enough, clearly a trans woman.
Credit for our adoption of our newest scream queen goes to Jessica Conwell, the Transsexual Trash-Aunt of Supernatural Fantasy and author of Three Sharp Knives and Ghost Flower. Jess is releasing a sequel to Ghost Flower on November 2nd. I love her work and highly recommend you pick up her books.
Meanwhile, we’re running with this. Carmella is ours now. We’re going to make this so big that General Mills is forced to comment on it. We’re going to build to Tumblr levels of fandom nonsense. We’re going to get C&Ds from a cereal company because we’re flooding Etsy with bootleg Carmella Creeper merch.
Also, Carmella is dating Lydia Deetz.
Arguably, there’s a lot to unpack here. We can talk about representation of trans folks in media. We can talk about the way trans own-voices work is largely relegated to cult indie status. We can talk about how the lack of mainstream trans stories has us inventing headcanons to find ourselves.
But really, I just want to talk about how Carmella Creeper is a transsexual.
