Quiet Sundays...
... The kind of days where I don't have much to say, other than, "thank fuck it's not winter anymore." I can open a window and hear the birds, and my neighbors yelling at each other, and planes, and god knows what else overhead. Makes my southern soul crave sweet tea, hushpuppies, and macaroni salad.
God help us if we have a repeat of last year.
Unfortunately, I think we're gonna have to help ourselves somehow with that one.
Music: Late Night Vaporwave on Youtube
So, in case you're just tuning in, my name is Coffee, aka Vincent Lore. I'm a 30-something disabled trans guy living on the southern east coast of the USA. I've lived my whole life under the Mason-Dixon line - you can probably tell, if you talk to me long enough. I love cats, warm rain, all kinds of music, and both coffee and tea. They both have their place in my heart, and stomach.
I write dark shit.
My middle teen years were spent fretfully engaging with PS2 horror games - Silent Hill, Fatal Frame, Resident Evil. I discovered the macabre early on through sites like Newgrounds, with their Halloween categories, and websites long lost to time. I was scared and disturbed by it all... but I couldn't look away, either, even though it scared my young self senseless.
[Side note: Anyone else familiar with those PC Nancy Drew mystery games? Those should not have been as scary as they were.]
These days I'm rooted deep in the gothic - literature mostly, and musically about half the time [I'm not giving up my kpop, sorry], but I've always adored the lifestyle, and those stupid overpriced clothes I yearn to imitate. My main writing project is a gothic fantasy series, with multiple side projects that are just. Erotic AUs of the main one. Writing smut is fun! And I'm good at it!
Since we're on the topic, here's the list of them:
The Runner Owen series
Set in a Victorian inspired fantasy world where it's always night, Runner Owen stars 19 year old Owen Rosedown, a detective for hire called a Runner. Owen expects to live a quiet life helping people with small crimes. Instead he's dragged into mess after mess, his life tangling with two very important, very dangerous men: Prince Aurum Von Domini, the leader of the city's secret police, and the vampire conqueror-priest known only to humans as the Scarred Man.
Farewell Vesperos, the first book, has Owen moving into a room in a small, strange mansion just days before the owner is murdered. Forced by Prince Aurum to find the killer, Owen uncovers unpleasant secrets about the owner, and his ward, the lost heir to the fallen Vesperos family.
Hollywood's Prince [title TBD]
My secondary priority after Farewell Vesperos
Cozy mystery erotica? Is that a thing?
Set in an alternate 1950s Hollywood, Owen is a B movie actor and amateur sleuth with a painful crush on A list actor Aurum. When things go wrong, Owen runs headfirst into trouble he couldn't have expected. Like Aurum being a vampire.
Still figuring out WTF this is tbh but I'm having fun!
Untitled 90s AU
Currently lives as just one story, part of a larger, outlined whole.
Intense 90s vampire movie vibes. Even has an edgy club for them.
Darker than some of my other stuff, and more or less pure smut.
Night Desert AU, Space Age AU, Retrowave AU
These get lumped together because none of them are well developed.
Night Desert is a fantasy story where the equivalent of Victorian Britain tried to colonize hell, and got their asses kicked. Now Owen ventures into the Night Desert, as a guest who won't be coming back...
Space Age AU is based on scifi of the 30s - 50s.
Retrowave is based on the vibes of 80s nostalgia, vaporwave/retrowave music, and similar concepts. Contains about 9 short stories, all smut, one currently written.
I didn't mean for this to be so long. I hope I haven't wasted your time. Or mine. But this is just the first email so it's fine. Next time I'll share something I've written instead of rambling an introduction like this.
If you're interested in any of these stories, or about me, I'd love to hear from you! Let me know your thoughts - any of them - and I'll see if I can reply back once I figure out how.
