Bloody Brief #6

Did you know you could make video games while the world burns around you? It’s true.

It feels like it’s been one million years since I wrote the last email. A lot has happened. Sometimes I’m like, hey, things. Stop happening! And they never listen to me. I am trying, y’all.

Anyways, how about another character card from Vampire the Taskerade?

A slide that shows info about a character. On the left in a dialogue box reads: Nefershesmu Black. Job Title: Administrative Assistant. Pronouns: She/he/they/ etc. Height: 5' 8" (1.72 m) Eye Color Deep Amethyst Region/Era of Origin: Ancient Egypt. Previous Career: Priestess, Wife. Below that in an oval bubble reads: Fun Fact: Nefershesmy can imbibe wine, perhaps a side effect of being the wife of Shesmu, deity of blood and wine. On the right is a set of walking sprites for the character, 24 in all. The card is done in a grey gradient with a few red blood splatters and red and black accents.
Nef :3

Nefershesmu Black! Nef is an administrative assistant, specifically the assistant to the manager for all the Project Managers, Rhema Queen. I love the little boots and the heavy jewelry he wears. It’s such a fun sprite.

It’s nice to have games to remind us that human brains are capable of making and having fun. I feel like humans are more fans of games than other things like being terrible and terrorizing people but idk. I might be wrong about that.

A lot of changes are happening with the VtT team, not all of which I will go into. I (Tristan) just started a new (additional) job where I have to leave my house and commute and talk to people and not work on games. It’s very wacky! I’m not sure how I feel about it. But if I want to have money to pay the team, I have to keep doing it, so in that way it is worth it.

Important Dates

Steam Page: TBD
Narrascope: June 20th-22nd in Philadelphia, June 20th-22nd in Philadelphia, I’ll be there with Camerin Wild giving a talk about translating TTRPG experiences to video game play and vice versa. Our talk is Saturday the 21st at 4:15pm EST in room URBN-120. I think I got the time right. I had to do a conversion.

Attention/Dinero

This month's Attention/Dinero is a repeat. I KNOW. SO SOON?! But it's for Take Us North. The Kickstarter is going to be launching soon and more than ever, these kinds of stories need to be told. This game is a real labor of love and shows only some of the harsh realities people face as they depart from their home countries and try to cross the border between Mexico and the USA, while centering immigrants themselves and their dreams. The hope they have has to be bigger than the fear and danger they face along the way. If you haven’t asked to be notified when it launches, please do so and tell your friends and family who might be interested. And of course, follow Anima Interactive online to hear more about the project in general.

Okay, that’s the news for now.
