This week's episode is devoted to the historical event we will all surely one day tell our children about: the release of the GTA 6 trailer.
After an unexpected trailer leak followed by a hasty response from Rockstar, the trailer dropped early this week. Both of us dutifully avoided the Internet and shielded our tender eyes so we could watch it together Tuesday morning.
After a deep dive into the video’s metrics and the game’s anticipated sales numbers, we share some of our personal history with the franchise. Then, finally, the trailer.
Listen to the full episode for more, but our reactions were generally positive. Grand Theft Auto 6 promises a long-awaited return to the mythic Vice City setting. But the franchise has evolved. This time it’s infused with a deeper mashup of Floridian ethnic and political subcultures, all viewed through a TikTok aspect ratio wielded by our main character Lucia--a convicted criminal, a woman of color, and GTA's first dedicated female protagonist.
