UARC Newsletter February
February was all about research outputs and proposals for the Research Center! We are gathering outputs for the Annual Report of 2024, smoothening our Repository processes, and setting up guidelines for the use of the Repository. We also welcomed Pauline, who joined the Research Center to provide administrative support!
We also attended the Organization, Governance, and Management (OGM) Research Conference (19-20 Feb), of which we found the break out sessions, led by the PhD candidates, very inspiring! They talked us through their research projects, and how their projects connect to the OGM research agenda. Food for thought for a future University of Aruba Research Agenda!
Pauline Veenendaal started at the Research Center!
Pauline Veenendaal started on February 1 as administrative assistant for the Research Center. Pauline has been working for the University of Aruba for 7 years already and during the years she supported the Law Faculty, SISSTEM and AFY. In addition to working for the Research Center, she will also continue to support AFY.

Workshop: Open Data intro + Bring your own Data
On 4 March (1:00-3:30) the Research Center is organizing another workshop, this time on Open Data and Research Data Management. The workshop consists of two parts, so you can choose which parts of the workshop you would like to attend. You can find more details in the sign up form: Don’t forget to sign up to secure your spot/lunch by the end of today (27 February)!

Future workshops?
The UARC organized a workshop about the Repository in January, and you can join a Research Data workshop in March. We now want to hear from you what the Research Center’s next workshop will focus on! Provide your input in the Google Form, and perhaps the next workshop will be on your chosen topic!
Annual Report: Research outputs
Make sure your research outputs are added to the Annual Report of 2024 by adding your research outputs to the Repository before 6 March! If you have any questions or need help with adding your outputs, please contact us at research@ua.aw.
Thaïs Franken as one of the “Faces of Science of the KNAW”
From Thaïs’ LinkedIn:
“I have been accepted to become one of the 12 new Faces of Science of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Science (KNAW). I am beyond grateful to Utrecht University for nominating me and equally excited to start this new journey. I will be documenting and communicating more about my PhD research on “Public Value Governance of Civil Society Organizations in the Dutch Caribbean” at the local level, but especially within the Dutch academic community. This is not only a valuable opportunity for me as a researcher but also an empowering moment for the University of Aruba.”
Congratulations Thaïs!
