Valentino Reside (Week 1 Cheap Ones)
Serving as a good introduction to the essence of this newsletter, the first edition's bigging-up of the Arsenal defence and the introduction of Ben White to it was swiftly followed by Arsenal's 2-0 defeat to newly-promoted Brentford...
The first week is a decent chance to see which players are getting minutes, especially those at the cheaper end of the FPL value spectrum.
Five of the cheapest players in the game, those valued at 4m, played the full 90 minutes this weekend and will be being eyed up by FPL managers looking to free up funds.
One of the more surprising names to start in the opening weekend impressed in the Everton v Southampton game at Goodison Park despite a 3-1 defeat for his side.
Here's a look at him as well as a list of the other players, all defenders, valued at 4m -- maybe not for long though.
Valentino Livramento
Tino Livramento arrived at Southampton from Chelsea's youth team this summer for a fee of £5.3m (according to Transfermarkt).
The susprisingly-English-not-Italian-right-back impressed against Everton.
He only scored one point, but seems like he will be a genuine challenger to Kyle Walker-Peters and Yan Valery in his position.
The 18-year-old started on merit according to Ralph Hasenhüttl -- there was no injury to Walker-Peters.
It will be interesting to see if the Saints boss sticks with him after such a defeat.
You wouldn't fancy Southampton to keep many clean sheets on that showing, but Livramento has potential for some attacking stats that may lead to bonus points and even the odd assist.
He carried the ball for a total of 329 yards according to FBref, more than any other player on the pitch, and considerably more than the next best Southampton player James Ward-Prowse (199 yards).
Other 4m players with 90 mins in Gameweek 1
Daniel Amartey - Leicester - 6 points (will likely be replaced by new signing Jannick Vestergaard at some point)
Kostas Tsimikas - Liverpool - 6 points (price has already risen to 4.1)
Shane Duffy - Brighton - 2 points
Ki-Jana Hoever - Wolves - 1 point
