Trump's Terrible Court Day
I am working on a longer update on Abrego Garcia but I wanted to touch on one thing quickly to illustrate what sort of incompetency and animus we are dealing with here.
The government is desperate to paint Abrego Garcia as some sort of terrorist mastermind, making false accusation after false accusation. Today that reached a new level.
Tattoos have long been evidence misused by law enforcement at all levels to label people as gang members.
Trump tonight posted that Abrego Garcia has MS-13 tattooed on his knuckles and showed a photo of Abrego Garcia which indeed shows the characters MS 13 across his knuckles - photoshopped onto them.
The image began with a white supremacist account on Twitter saying that a marijuana tattoo stood for M, a smiley face stood for S, and then a cross and a skull covered up a 1 and a 3. Why you would have this mix of symbols standing in for words and then numbers covered up with unrelated symbols to denote your gang membership is beyond me, but perhaps Captive Dreamer isn’t the greatest detective here. (The name is a reference to a novel written by a Nazi who served in Hitler’s Schutzstaffel. I will not be linking to his account.)
Someone took Captive Dreamer’s nonsense conspiracy theory and photoshopped the letters onto Abrego Garcia’s hand. These are obviously labels and not intended to pass as real tattoos.
This fact was not understood by our president, who thought these were ACTUAL tattoos, because he is an idiot.
More on this topic later and there is a LOT to cover but I want to touch down on the NUMEROUS ways Trump lost in court today. A massive number of his actions so far have been blatantly illegal and the courts have issued a correspondingly large number of orders to stop him.
If you are feeling hopeless, here are some great reasons not to:
Trump has been blocked from mass firings at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
The mass firings of probationary employees without cause (they were lying and saying they were terminating people with glowing performance reviews for bad work) has been blocked.
A judge blocked removing Temporary Protected Status from Venezuelans. Today that judge blocked Trump’s request to continue kicking them out of the program (and therefore country).
The Trump administration has been blocked from removing the non-binary gender option from passports.
The 9th circuit denied Trump’s efforts to reinstate his ban on transgender people serving in the military.
They have been moving immigrants they arrest to different states in order to place them under the jurisdiction of more favorable judges. Today a judge ordered the government to return Rumeysa Ozturk to Vermont, where she was initially arrested.
None of these cases have reached conclusion yet, but this is a GOOD sign that the courts are still working to uphold the law against a man who wants to see it destroyed.
