No Kings Protest Tomorrow - 3/28
I’m wearing a shirt from one of the past No Kings protests. While picking up lunch, the worker said he liked my shirt. I asked if he was going tomorrow. He’d not heard of the event.
I let him know where he can find info if he’d like to attend.
The woman behind me in line interjected - she wanted to go too.
It’s just that easy.
I don’t know if these two will attend. But now they have a resource to learn about new events.
Tomorrow we will see another massive protest against the lawlessness of President Donald Trump. Given that we are now in an unconstitutional war, this may be the largest day of protest in US history.
Volunteer Opportunities, Events, and Petitions Near Me · Mobilize
Create change in your community. Find events, petitions, volunteer opportunities, and fundraisers in your local area, organized by charities, campaigns, political organizations, grassroots groups, and other volunteers! Together, we'll help make the world more just, inclusive, and democratic.
That site has everything you need to find a local event, and chances are you will find one planned.
For those who have not participated in events like this, there’s not much to it. If you stay the entire time most likely there will be some local speakers and possibly a march. That’s basically it.
The primary purpose here is visibility. Yes, there will be handmaidens, frogs (raises hand), etc… But mostly we will all be there just to be a face in the crowd - showing the media, the government, and the world that we are fighting this regime with the tools we have available to us.
If you are at a larger event, most likely local groups will be there handing out literature and networking. If you are looking to get involved locally, this is a great place to start. These groups may range from simple things like letter writing to more complex endeavors like ICE monitoring. (I do not advise doing the latter on your own).
If you are free, you should consider attending a local event.
At an earlier protest, I was asked what I wanted the president impeached over. I cut it off when I realized I was speaking to a right wing “influencer” but here are a few reasons Donald Trump should be removed from office:
He illegally impounds spending mandated by Congress while saying he will illegally spend money not appropriated by Congress.
His war on “DEI” meant feeding grants into ChatGPT and asking it if those grants dealt with diversity. This resulted in cutting funding to things like an air conditioner upgrade for a museum (ChatGPT said that could result in more attendees at the museum and those attendees might be diverse) and a film about how Jewish women were treated during the Holocaust because focusing on Judaism and women was discriminatory against people who aren’t Jewish women.
He continues to illegally and unconstitutionally murder sailors near South America. Both Trump and JD Vance have joked about how fishermen are scared to work there because of the risk the US military will execute them.
He illegally kidnapped the president of Venezuela.
He started an unconstitutional and illegal war in Iran.
He has used the Department of Justice as a weapon to harass his critics.
He has used the US government to personally enrich himself and his family in amounts now counted in billions.
His government has ignored countless court orders regarding immigrants. The agents he has sent into the streets have killed peaceful immigrants and protestors and bragged about the murders afterwards.
He has dismantled congressionally mandated agencies without congressional approval.
He pardoned the 1/6 rioters who were seeking to carry out a coup for him to overturn the 2020 election.
His Justice Department has repeatedly lied to the courts.
He has withheld access to emergency funds from states run by Democrats, based on nothing other than politics.
This is not an exhaustive list - merely what's on the top of my head at the moment. I have no expectation of Donald Trump's removal while the Republicans maintain the house. Tomorrow we will be showing our support for ending his regime once the Democrats retake Congress.
See you in the streets,
