Events @ Trident Halifax, Feb. 20th-27th 2025!

Happy Wednesday, everybody! Obligatory comment on the weather here. We’re all living it—you don’t need to hear it again.

Still, the cure for the winter blahs is to get out and enjoy cozy cheer with your community. Here’s what Trident has on offer for the next week!

Thursday, February 20th: The Halifax Magic Club presents The Up Close Cabaret! Five magicians will perform their most astounding tricks at close quarters to the amazement of all! This week’s show is sold out, but the cafe is still open for takeout orders and seating on the library side of the cafe. If you missed your chance at a ticket this time around, no worries—we’re hoping to make this a regular feature!

Saturday, February 22nd: Trident Reading Party with Cappuccino & Chapters! Escape into a good book with some new friends from 6pm-6:40pm, with a little discussion before and after. Register in advance with this Google Sheet, as spaces are limited! The meetup itself is free.

Tuesday, February 25th: Book celebration! Join us at 7pm for an evening with horror author Heddy Johannesen, reading and discussing her latest book, The Cult of the Spider People!

Wednesday, February 26th: Book Collecting 101 with Charlotte Ashley! This workshop will provide an overview of how to identify books, how to conceptualize a collection, how to hunt, what to look for, and why. With hands-on examples, we will delve into the rich world of bibliomania!

This will be a hybrid event. Hands-on attendees will receive a voucher for a free coffee or tea, as well as a book! Online attendees will be able to watch, listen, and discuss via video chat. Book your ticket at Eventbrite!

Thursday, February 27th: Bill Travis/Mushkat Live at Trident! This Thursday’s live performance is indie folk artist, Mushkat (Bill Travis)! Come down and enjoy a drink, a snack, and some live music from 6:30-8:30pm! Cover is Pay What You Can, $10 recommended, all of which goes to the artist.

We are hoping to continue showcasing live performances on Thursday evenings going forward, so please check in for event details! Some events will be ticketed, and others general admission. Most will be louder than your usual quiet evening at Trident. Plan accordingly!

Have an event you’d like Trident to host? Drop us an email at tridenthalifax@eastlink.ca and let me know what you have in mind! We have lots of space on our calendar and are always happy to lend space to the community!

Cheers!
