Classified - #charactercreationchallenge

Victory Games released the licensed James Bond 007 - Role Playing in Her Majesties Secret Service in 1983. This was not game designer Gerald Christopher Klug's first game, and it beautifully captured the spirit of James Bond novels and films. The only minor difference was no SPECTRE (the rights were not owned by Glidrose or EON) or Blofeld - but TAROT and Skorpios are an excellent replacement.

Player characters are very much the heroes, as you would expect from the franchise, and the game can be played with just one player and GM. I enjoyed it and collected most of the published adventures - like the films, but with slight differences so players can't run roughshod.

Rights have reverted and the RPG is out of print - but retro clone Classified is a perfect replacement. Designer Joseph Browning captured the original game, with minor differences in character creation. The mechanics are identical, so it can be played with its own adventures (Operation Rogue Lion) or the earlier Victory Games adventures. A softcover is available from Lulu or many local game stores, the PDF is at https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/128259/Classified and it can also be purchased from the author http://josephbrowning.blogspot.com/ or his company, Expeditious Retreat Press (XRP).

Characters are created with a point-buy method, and can be rookie, agent, or special agents. I went with Agent for my character. I look forward to running him through the solo introductory adventure included in the original game, "The Island of Dr. No"
