31 December 2013 - 120 books in 2013
Fifth active year on goodreads (now a part of Amazon) and third year of being active in their reading challenge. https://www.goodreads.com/user_challenges/571409
This year I also joined a challenge to read 10 new (to me) female authors of SF, Fantasy and Horror, publishing reviews of each. They don't provide an easy way to link to the reviews, so here is the best of the 12 - https://www.worldswithoutend.com/novel_review.asp?ID=2889
Back to the results. I read 70 fiction books, of which 20 were series fiction. I read 50 non fiction books. Using Dewey Decimal (because that's what the local libraries use), these were from:
- 3 000 Computer science, information & general works
- 6 100 Philosophy and psychology
- 2 200 Religion
- 8 300 Social sciences
- 1 400 Language
- 8 500 Science and mathematics
- 3 600 Technology
- 8 700 Arts and recreation (7 from 79x - Recreation and Performing Arts)
- 3 800 Literature
- 4 900 History, geography
- 4 Biography
The earliest published book I read this year was The Naked and the Dead from Norman Mailer (1948). The most recently published book read this year was David and Goliath (October 2013).
Finally, according to goodreads I read 35063 pages in 2013. That works out to an average of 292 pages per book, and roughly 96 pages per day. Whew!
