THE 1996 PROJECT - February 22-29th
It’s not every week we start with a WAR GAMES but FMW bring us that on their show on the 23rd as the WING Alliance (Matsunaga, Bad Boy Hido and WING Kanemura) take on Masato Tanaka, Ricky Fuji and Tetsuhiro Kuroda.
Feels fitting that we see the madman that is Matsunaga in a week where the pearl clutching, fake concerning grifters who want senpai Paul and Phil to notice them by complaining about two wrestlers going to war and one re-creating an angle from late 1989 because no doubt they’d be whining about this and yet will be raving about one in two months.
Chaos quickly rules the day as Kanemura and Kuroda go fuck it and enter at the same time so it’s really not a War Games to be honest but nevertheless we have barbed wire bats, handcuffs, Masato Tanaka taking a HELL of a beating, WING being chased off by FMW in the post-match angle and Mr Danger being his wonderful self. Another fun discovery of the project has been found.
Syndication Saturday time – Superstars had one notable thing – Maple Leaf Pro owner and former leader of Team Canada Scott D’amore being a jobber losing to Duke The Dumpster Droese!
USWA has an AMAZING segment with Bill Dundee that considering the previous week had Pillman doing similar in ECW might actually be the better one of the two…
This leads to a confrontation later on where Dundee spits at Lawler leading to an UNSANCTIONED match the following Wednesday…
