SHA's resurfacing of four northbound I-95 bridges near Columbia (Middle Patuxent River, Little Patuxent River, and both MD 32 spans) is now in its seventh week. Double-lane closures continue Sunday–Thursday, 9PM–5AM, weather permitting, with the project still targeting an October wrap.

Mad Fitness Group, the franchisee behind 31 F45 studios across six states, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in early August and has already closed three Maryland locations (Olney, Germantown, White Marsh). Get your chimney inspected before the first fire

Fire safety code (NFPA 211, the standard the Chimney Safety Institute of America follows) calls for chimneys, fireplaces, and vents to be inspected at least once a year — even ones that barely get used. Critters nest in flues over the summer and deterioration doesn't announce itself. Get it checked now, before the first cold snap has you lighting up without knowing what's up there.

There's a ghost town inside Ellicott City.

Daniels, tucked along the Patapsco River off Daniels Road, started as a textile mill town in 1810 and grew into a real village — about 90 families, plus stores, churches, a school, and its own railroad station. The mill closed in the late 1960s, and Tropical Storm Agnes finished the job in 1972, flooding the town and forcing a full abandonment.

Today, weeds and vines have swallowed most of what's left, but you can still find the ruins of two churches, an old dam, and bridge remnants if you know where to look.
