2. MALI: FLA HANDS OVER 61 MORE SOLDIERS TO NIGER

The Front de libération de l'Azawad handed a further 61 Malian soldiers to Niger's authorities at the border on 28 August, according to RFI and Bamada.net reporting. It is the third such release this month, following 82 soldiers and two Wagner personnel freed around 13–14 August and 22 more soldiers released around 23 August. RFI reported the releases are part of a continuing process also involving Nigerien and Burkinabè soldiers, though numbers and mediation details for that part were not specified.

3. MALI: MILITARY CLAIMS STRIKES AT TESSALIT, NEAR KOUTIALA

Mali's armed forces said they struck armed-group positions at Tessalit and roughly 60km west of Koutiala on 28 August, destroying "significant war materiel" and neutralizing "several chiefs," according to the military's own communiqué.
