Call for Pitches: Seeking new guest contributors!
(Get paid to) join the conversation
Hello JustSpace readers and supporters!
You may have noticed that several of our newsletter posts over the last year or two have been guest posts, including excellent contributions by Diana Umpierre (about protecting Earth’s dark skies), Pixel Hodgson (about neurodiversity in aerospace), and Magnus l’Argent (about Starlink megaconstellations).
One of our goals with this newsletter is to amplify the work of other organizations and individuals working towards a more ethical and inclusive future in space. To that end, we’ve been commissioning guest pieces for this newsletter, and we are delighted to announce that we’ve been approved funding for two more pieces this year. This is where you come in!
Is there an area of space ethics that you feel is underrecognized and underdiscussed? Do you have a proposal for how increase inclusion in space science, policy, or industry? How are people who don’t work in “typical” space jobs— like artists, activists, and educators— helping to build a better future for humans and space?
If you’re interested in contributing a piece on space and social justice to the JustSpace Alliance newsletter, send your pitch via email to [email protected]. Please encourage your friends, students, and colleagues to pitch us, too! We highly encourage people who aren’t established writers in space-related fields to submit their ideas. We offer a flat rate of 400 USD for a piece of at least 1000 words. Pitches will be considered on a rolling basis. And if you’re reading this past the end of 2026, feel free to reach out to ask about our current funding status for commissions.
The work of the JustSpace Alliance, including these paid commissions, is supported significantly by donations from our members. So if you’re interested in seeing more guest posts in this newsletter, consider applying to become a member at bit.ly/JustSpaceApply! Members have access to our virtual community spaces, and in the future, we’ll be able to offer in-person gatherings, more podcast and video content, writing, and more. Supporting JustSpace will help us reach our mission goals by allowing us to compensate people for their time and labor for our future projects, as well as help us cover basic costs like maintaining our website, etc. You can find more information at bit.ly/JustSpaceMemberFAQ.
