In your element ๐๐ง๐ฅ๐ฑ
Earth, air, fire, water
Hey peach, how you going?
I thought we might work with the elements today; what do ya say?
Each of the four elements brings something cool to the table where creativity is concerned. So I'm serving up a few techniques rooted in elemental experiences and correspondences to counteract the 'creative slumps'.
Roll up your sleeves, grab your notebook, and let's begin!

๐ฑ Earth: grounding
Sometimes, our ideas are so myriad and so intense they knock us off our feet. We lose sight of our objectives and end up going round and round, chasing one idea and then the next. Panic starts to set in; maybe doubt, too. In cases like this, you need to channel our old pal, earth.
There are several ways you can use earth to get your writing back on track. The first is to try a grounding exercise. I've linked a couple here so you can see what fits (I like the 'body awareness' approach).
You can also go outside for a walk or do some light gardening. Get your hands into the earth, touch some trees, and calm yourself back to rationality.
๐ Air: innovation
It's easy to get stuck in a rut with your writing. Going to the same sources, techniques, or structures until you're bored with your own work. If this sounds familiar, use the element of air to breathe new life into your writing.
Shake shit up by using out-of-the-box creative prompt tools like The Deck of Brilliance (not just a clever name, btw; it really is brilliant). You could also go rogue and fool around with our pal, Chat GPT. Anything that gets you thinking in a new way is fair game!
๐ฅFire: passion
This is the element I like to work with most. I love the spicy energy I get when I tap into fire for creative tasks. I even touched on it in my newsletter on creative muses.
This is the element I turn to when I'm feeling mentally sluggish. I reignite my passion by switching to more exciting tasks. My faves are: writing Copy Coven newsletters, adding to my bank of social media posts, and reading inspiring publications.
Once I've got my pep back, I carry the energy back over to the client job I was doing and blaze on through it!
๐งWater: emotion
This element taps* into a copywriting and creative writing fundamental โ put yourself into someone else's shoes and find what motivates them to act. What are they feeling? How can you mirror those emotions back at them or talk to them from that same place?
Glimpse the customers' mindset by taking Joanna Wiebe's (Copyhackers) approach. Scout out customer reviews for the product or brand you're talking about and plug directly into their voice and perspective.
You can also try Eddie Schleyner's technique of 'dimensionalization' โ finding the benefit in the benefit in the benefit.
And if you really want to tap into the power of water for creativity, take a shower. Works every time ๐
*Pun intended

๐ฎ Freelance focus: Wisdom with the Hierophant
There are tons of lessons to take from this wise guy over the next 28 days. First up โ question your values and beliefs about work and/or business. Are they working for you, or do you need to seek new knowledge elsewhere? Not all 'proven models' work for everyone, and that's okay!
April could be a good time to think about sharing your knowledge with other people. Have you considered becoming a business mentor, starting consultations, or lending your support to new communities? It could be just what you need!
