Write your ideal client into your life
Your pen is a wand ๐๏ธโจ
Hey peach, howโs it going?
Oh, me? I'm okay, thanks. I like winter, but spring is starting to look good to me right now. Speaking of, this is a fab season to plant intentions. So, how's about a bit of pen magick?
This month's exercise is a mash-up between your bog standard pen portrait and what we cunning folk call 'petition magick'.
Petition magick is the act of writing a wish down and raising energy to manifest that wish into life. It's one of my favourite forms of magick โ especially when I want to draw something towards myself.
And what's one thing we writers like to draw towards ourselves? Clients, baby! Sweet, sweet clients.
If you aren't a freelancer (or a writer!), you can use this exercise for new projects and opportunities; sub out the 'client' stuff for 'job' stuff.
Tools
Blue pen
Piece of paper (bonus points if it's fancy)
Optional: cinnamon stick and string/ribbon
Method
1) This task starts with business research and a lotta introspection. Go through your revenue sheet and work pipeline and identify your best clients (you can try the Pumpkin Plan if you're struggling).
2) Once you know who you'd like to attract, take your pen and paper and write a pen portrait of your ideal client. I prefer to do this in a bullet-point list of attributes.
Get as specific as possible โ you can even base some of the traits on your current clients. The more specific you are about who this person is, the better. As always, write from a positive place (less "they aren't a cheapskate" and more "they pay early").
3) When you're finished, sit with your portrait for a minute or two and really visualise what it'll be like to have more clients like this.
4) Once you're satisfied, put your pen portrait somewhere safe. You can pin it up on your workboard to remind yourself what a truly great client looks like or fold it away in a secret place until it comes to fruition.
If you're feeling super fancy and witchy, roll your petition around your cinnamon stick (for an extra energetic kick), fasten it with string and keep it somewhere safe.
5) You can keep this ticking over or burn your petition when you're satisfied it's done its job.
Does this sound like a lot of hocus pocus to you? Think of it like this โ whether it's 'magick' or not, by simply taking the time to assess your business and get specific about your ideal client, you're more likely to recognise them when they come along. Either way, it worked!

Okay, okay, nobody panic! Anyone who knows the tarot knows this isn't an ideal card on the face of it. However, in my experience, it's a transformative card.
The Tower signifies a dismantling of old beliefs and systems. A complete overhaul of the old to make way for the new. And sure, it might be messy, but it's also a fab opportunity for growth.
Want to accept your freelance focus challenge for March? In that case, you'll need to embrace any opportunity to make big changes in your career and business. If you press ahead, there's sure to be an awakening at the end of it. Go ahead, peach โ evolve like the beautiful Pokรฉmon you are!
