What's the tea? 🍵
Witches brew
Hey peach, how’s it going?
I’m delighted to be writing to you on the cusp of the Most Wonderful Time of the Year — Halloween! Hope you’ve got a good one planned.
We’re moving into the dark half of the year now, which means many of us will be reaching for those little things that bring us comfort at our desks.
So I’m going to give you a helping hand in the form of…
✨ Magickal potions ✨
That is to say, I’m giving you a herbal index so you can concoct your perfect brew.
But this is no ordinary hot beverage!
You can tweak and adjust the herbs in your tea to channel the right mood for the occasion. Whether you need to keep calm, stay focused, or want something that’ll put some pep in your step, I got you covered.
Without further ado, here’s your potion index. Happy brewing!

Potion index 🍵
Calmness: chamomile, rose, lavender
Focus: spearmint, peach, turmeric
Happiness: green tea, ginger, lemongrass
Inspiration: yerba mate, mint, matcha
Luck: star anise, vetiver, mint, allspice, strawberry
Success: lemon balm, cinnamon, ginger
Strength: black tea, yerba mate
Method
Start by choosing a few complementary herbs and spices to fit your purpose. Note I said ‘complementary’ — you don’t want to choose stuff that’ll taste like trash when mixed together.
I sometimes use a shop-bought tea bag as my base. This is especially helpful when you want to brew with fruits, matcha, and blends that use lavender, jasmine, or rose (ever tried to add lavender to your own tea? Blurgh).
Once you’ve got your selection, get the kettle on and add your herbs to the pot or pop them into one of those neat little mesh doodads.
If you aren’t a fan of tea (I know I’m bloody not), you could add a pinch of something to ground coffee before you brew it — spices work particularly well. I’m a real hoe for nutmeg, cinnamon, and clove.
If you’ve got a copy of my eBook The Witchy Freelancer, you could use it to charm a teaspoon and bring energy in by stirring clockwise. If you’re feeling super sassy, you could even use it to draw a sigil into the surface of your brew.
Let me know how you get on! Bonus points for tea pics.

🌝 Mourning Moon – 8th November
November’s full moon directly follows Halloween, making it the first moon of the ‘new year’.
It’s a fab time to shed the mental and emotional crud that doesn’t serve you, so you can move forward into the rest of winter with more space for the stuff you truly care about.
