Self-reflection in your Book of Mirrors ๐ช๐
Dear diary...
Hey, peach.
What's new?
This newsletter is going to be a corker because it's pre-prep forย Samhainย (or 'Halloween', as the muggles call it).
For magickal folk, Samhain is the end of the wheel of the year, kinda like our version of New Year's Eve. It's an excellent time forย divination โ reflecting on the past and looking toward the year ahead.
Enter the Book of Mirrors.
A 'Book of Mirrors' is the witchy term for a personal journal. It's a tool used for self-reflection...hence the name. I like to buy a new Book of Mirrors every October, just in time for Samhain. I'll cleanse it, dedicate it, and make my very first entry โ a tarot card spread for the year ahead (this one's my fave).
I'll look back over last year's tarot card spread and think about how much of it rang true or came to pass. I write out my cards for the year ahead and journal on possible interpretations. After all, I am my business. If I don't take a minute to learn from the year behind me and apply it to the year ahead, I won't ever grow!
So, I thought I'd bring the idea to you fine folk. Setting up your own Book of Mirrors to get your head in the game for the final quarter of the business year and for 2023 as a whole.
Here are some different options to make the idea work for you. ๐

๐ Starting a Book of Mirrors (but, like, your way)
1) You could take my annual tradition and make it your own. Buy a brand new diary and kick things off with an entry on divination for the year ahead.
2) Make a freelance business reflection diary and use it for morning pages and career-related divination. You can try work-related tarot spreads like these.
3) Keep it simple, keep it personal. Nab a diary and just write about the year you've had and what you'd like to work on in the coming year โ here are some prompts to get you started.
4) Not into journaling? Take this opportunity to invest in your 2023 work planner and plot the year ahead based on insights from the year just gone. What would you like to see more of? What would you like to see less of? What tiny steps could you take to make that shit happen?
Whatever you choose to do, Samhain is the best time to kickstart self-reflection. Get on it, buddy!

๐ Blood Moon โ 9th October
October's full moon (also known as the Hunter's Moon) is the herald of winter.
Take this opportunity to honour your ancestors and anyone who has passed beyond the veil โ I like to build my own version of a Dรญa de Muertos ofrenda and have it up all October.
It's a good time to reflect on the year just gone and an awesome time to prep for the colder months ahead.

๐ฎ Freelance focus: conflict resolution with the Five of Wands
Competition, conflict, and chaos. Are you ready for the challenge ahead in October?
The Five of Wands is an invite to shift your freelance focus to seek harmony in your work and avoid self-comparison at all costs.
