Long-term subscribers will (hopefully) remember last year's newsletter, where we discussed the Halloween tradition of divination.
And what fun, I thought, to empower you to do your own divination this year?! So, I whipped up a tarot card spread to help you reflect on your writing practice and plan your approach for the year ahead.
What habits can you kill off? What could you bring into being? What are your deepest, darkest writing desires?
No tarot cards to hand? Don't worry, babe. I've got you covered.
You can use a regular deck of cards (they're essentially just like the minor arcana in a tarot deck) or an online tool like this one.

This is an exercise in finding patterns, meanings, and journaling prompts to help noodle things out. Nothing more, nothing less!

🎃 Writing reflection tarot spread
Card 1: This is the current status of your writing practice.
Card 2: Writing habits/beliefs/practices to release.
Card 3: Writing habits/beliefs/practices to embrace.
Card 4: Where you can find fresh inspiration in 2024.
Card 5: Areas of your craft to improve and hone.
Card 6: Your ultimate writing goal.
Lay the cards out however you like, and if you're using an online tarot card tool, remember to write your cards down before you click to draw another.
I find it helpful to write about each card and its placement in the spread, then journal on the overall story the cards are telling.
Don't fret too much about finding totally accurate meanings — look at the pictures and the names and try to come up with your own logical story about what the cards are trying to tell you.
